HUGS Gymnastics COVID-19 Update

HUGS is so excited to announce that we will begin reopening in phases starting June 1st.

Our recreational session 3 will begin the week of June 8th and registration is open now but very limited!

Are you wondering what you can expect at HUGS these days?

Here at HUGS we are proud and confident in the policies and procedures we have put in place that meet or exceed all government recommendations and CDC guidelines. For these precautions to be as effective as possible, it will require the support and participation of the entire HUGS Gymnastics community!

-Upon arrival each person entering the gym will have a thermal temperature check and hands sanitized. No-one with a temperature above 100.0 will be allowed to enter the gym.

-We will ask that if your child is age 5 or over you escort them to the door ( please DO NOT JUST DROP THEM OFF they need to pass the temperature check before they left) but let your child enter the building alone as our lobby will be closed to reduce the number of people and exposure in the building. If this poses a problem for your family please just let a staff member know and we can accommodate you. For children under 5 years old you can bring them in and and remain in the lobby but we will ask that you wear a mask as the space doe not allow for proper social distancing. We do have an outdoor area with a limited amount of chairs for seating and you are also welcome to bring a chair and put it anywhere outside our building (there are areas you can view into the gym in the screened door if weather permits and its open).

-Each child will need to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name as the water fountains are closed.

-We have reduced class sizes and number of classes running each hour so that can observe at least 6 foot social distancing with marked out spaces on the equipment and floor. The beams have been measure and placed, the bars are already distanced, the floor has been marked off, and vault stations set up 6 feet apart.

-Because we will always maintain a very generous social distancing we will not require athletes to wear masks, as masks are only required when you are within 6 feet of another person. You are of course welcome to have your child wear a mask if you are more comfortable this way, but I will not require it; for 2 reasons. The potential hazard of a mask slipping over eyes while upside down, and the difficulty that a decrease flow of oxygen can have on an athlete in motion. However all staff members will wear masks.

-If the outdoor temperature is between 66-80 we will have all 4 giant overhead garage doors to the building opened with tunnel and ceiling fans running in our 32 foot high ceiling building will maximize fresh air exchange and simulate an outdoor environment.

-Each event will have a sanitizing station and we will sanitize hands and feet as well as equipment with hospital grade disinfectant and germicide before every rotation.

-Parent tot classes will use the private side door for entrance and exit to the building in order to reduce the traffic in the lobby and also avoid any exposure to the rest of the gym. These classes will run quite a bit differently so if you have specific questions please reach out.

-Our office and lobby area are marked for easy 6 foot social distancing and a plexiglass shield at the desk for stress free staff interaction.

-Our washrooms have been updated with touch-free sink faucets and paper towel dispensers. And sanitizing stations through the gym

If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! As we are not quite open yet and still diligently preparing for your return we have limited office hours, the best way to reach us is by email: contact@hugsgymnastics.com
